Small Steps For a Cleaner World
Small Steps for a cleaner world presentation
Join us for a night of family fun
Adults and teenagers will be able to enjoy enriching presentations about how to live more sustainable lives and why climate change is an important issue presented by girl scouts and the Citizens Climate Lobby. Children will be able to participate in fun eco friendly games and art projects.
Our presenters will discuss what climate change is and why it's such an emotional topic, what you can do to live a more sustainable life, and why taking action (however small or big) is extremely important.
This event will be held at the Wauwatosa Public Library in the Firefly room on August 29th at 6:15 pm to 7:45 pm. There will be opportunities for questions, fun games, and activities for every age!
Schedule
The night will start with a brief introduction from everyone speaking.
We will then have an open discussion about why climate change is important to us.
Then we will hear from Girl Scouts as to what we can do to be more environmentally friendly in different areas of our lives.
From here Mike Arney will present on what a carbon footprint is and making your home more sustainable while using community resources.
Lastly we will conclude with a short writing exercise and optional discussion.
Can't wait to see you there!
A very successful night!
The night started off with a conversation centered around our feelings and fears of climate change. We discussed how climate change affects our family and friends, how we are lucky to live in a place with minimal natural disasters, and why we often feel small compared to such a big topic.
We then talked about ways we already are environmentally friendly in different aspects of our lives. From there we shared these ideas out and had a public discussion where attendees were able to talk together about what they are already doing that is environmentally friendly. This part of the night inspired people to make changes that they heard about from others!
Over all the night was a huge success bringing in people of all ages! There were approximately 45 guests! We were able to have a meaningful conversation and learn a lot about climate change. The entire presentation lasted around 1 and a half hours and had a gallery walk at the end.
